1.Increase your water intake

Drinking water during your period can help you feel less bloated and relieve some of the pain that comes with it. Drinking hot water can also help you relax your muscles by increasing blood flow throughout your body. This can help with uterine contraction cramps.

2.Apply a heat patch

The muscles of your uterus can be helped by using a heating patch or wrap on your abdomen. Period cramps are brought on by these muscles. Heat can also help to improve circulation in the abdomen, which can help to alleviate pain.

3.Reduce your stress levels

Stress can aggravate cramping. Use stress-relieving practices such as meditation, deep breathing, yoga, or your own personal favorite. Try guided visualization if you’re not sure how to de-stress. Sit on a peaceful place, take a deep breath, and visualize a peaceful, safe environment that is meaningful to you. Take calm, deep breaths while remaining concentrated on this space for at least a few minutes.

4.Exercise

According to a study, exercise is beneficial to your health. Low-to-medium intensity aerobic exercise.

In this study, Women who exercised for 30 minutes three times a week for eight weeks had much less period pains, according to one study.

Consider biking to work, going for a brisk walk at lunchtime, dancing to your favorite tunes, or participating in a sport you enjoy to fit an aerobic workout into your routine.

5.Use OTC (over-the-counter) medications

Muscle contractions and discomfort are caused by the hormone prostaglandin. Anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, can relieve pain quickly by lowering the number of prostaglandins in your body. Only take OTC pain relievers when you start to feel cramps for the greatest effects.

6.Caffeine and salty meals should be avoided

While supplements can assist with period pain, it’s also a good idea to avoid meals that cause bloating, water retention, and discomfort. When you have cramps, you should avoid eating the following foods:

  • foods that are salty
  • caffeine
  • alcohol
  • foods high in fat

7.Consume Anti-inflammatory foods

Some foods can provide natural cramp relief while also tasting delicious. Anti-inflammatory foods can aid in blood flow and uterine relaxation. Berries, tomatoes, pineapples, and spices like turmeric, ginger, and garlic are all good choices. Inflammation can also be reduced by eating leafy green vegetables, almonds, walnuts, and fatty fish like salmon.

What foods should we avoid during our periods?
