What do you mean by eye bags?

Eye bags are said to be the drooping of the area under the eye, which gives the appearance of the eyes having a couple of bags hanging around them below. While dark circles and swollen eyes are caused by factors that we can manage at the end of the day, eye bags are usually the result of ageing.

Causes of eye bags

1. Age

It is one of the most common causes of eye bags. As time passes, the muscles around the eyes weaken, gravity takes over, and the fat just seeps down below, causing the dreaded “under the eyes” appearance.

2. The Genes

Because if your forefathers or mothers had eye bags, there’s a strong possibility you’ll have them too. I just hope they didn’t start getting them until later in life.

3. Sleep

Lack of sleep causes dark circles, as well as but it can also lead to the formation of eye bags. When you don’t acquire enough sleep, your body is unable to get rid of the excess fluid in your body, and that fluid congeals around your eyes, resulting in eye bags.

4. Excessive salt consumption

Salt is terrible for our bodies, according to recent studies, and one of the consequences could be eye bags. You’re more likely to wake up with eye bags if you eat a lot of salt, especially around supper. Because salt can cause dehydration, the body prepares for this by retaining water, which seeps in and collects under the eyes.

5. Your manner of life

It’s not uncommon to see folks in their 20s and early 30s with eye bags these days. And the reason for this is due to the way you live. If you don’t get enough sleep, work a lot, consume junk food, and smoke and drink much, you’re likely to get eye bags quite quickly.

Home Remedies for eye bags

1.Make use of a cold compress

Throw away those high-priced creams. A cold compress made from ingredients you already have could help you get rid of dark circles. Use of a cold compress to the affected area can help the blood vessels constrict quickly, providing some relief.

2.Keep yourself hydrated

Water accounts for roughly 60% of your body weight. As a result, it’s not surprising that dehydration might cause under-eye bags; increasing your water consumption should help.

3.Tea bags

Tea isn’t just for sipping; it’s also for cooking. Caffeinated tea bags can be used beneath the eyes to help with dark circles and bags.

The tea’s caffeine includes potent antioxidants and may help to enhance blood flow to the skin. It also protects against UV rays and may help to slow down the ageing process.

4.Cucumbers

Cucumbers have a natural cooling effect, so it’s no surprise that they can help you get rid of those pesky eye bags. Cut up cucumbers and place them on your eyes (ideally straight from the fridge), and let them work their magic role. Keep them on under your eyes for 15 to 30 minutes to get the most out of them.

5.Elevated sleeping

This is a trick that, when done correctly, can be very effective. If you sleep with only one thin pillow and always wake up with eye bags or dark circles, it’s time to reconsider. Place an extra pillow under the head and try to sleep the night away in that posture.

Because your head is higher than the rest of your body, surplus fluids can flow away from your face, which means you won’t wake up with puffy eyes or a bag beneath them.

Treatment

Bags beneath the eyes are mostly a cosmetic issue that does not require treatment. Home and lifestyle remedies may aid in the reduction or elimination of puffy eyes.

If you’re bothered about the appearance of under-eye swelling, medical and surgical solutions are available. If the treatment is simply for the purpose of improving your look, it may not be reimbursed by insurance.

Medications

If you suspect an allergy is causing the swelling under your eyes, consult your doctor about allergy treatments.

Therapies

The appearance of puffiness under the eyes can be improved using a variety of wrinkle treatments. Laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and fillers are some of the options for improving skin tone, tightening the skin, and rejuvenating the appearance of bags under the eyes.
